Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow!!! Was that best televisual golf fest the world has ever seen or what? Huge congratulations to Team Europe, incredible! My heart goes out to Team USA, fantastic golf, and gallant losers. Just when all looked to be lost for Europe, a faint glimmer of hope started to shine through late on Saturday. When the team gathered on Saturday night, they were 10-6 down – but to them it didn’t feel like that. That afternoon things had shifted from feeling impossible to POSSIBLE. Not only did that seed of possibility sneak into their minds, it also sneaked into the minds of the Americans…
This article tackles one of the most common barriers to success in golf – and indeed life. I urge you to address it yourself now before you waste more of your time and potential. The problem is simple and is shown by following two mindsets:
“I’m stuck at this handicap”
“At some point in every round I’ll play a destructive big slice”
“When under pressure my game falls apart”
“I hate bad weather so never play well in it”
“Every time I come to the last few holes, I can’t help but protect my score”
“If I’m playing well, I’m just waiting for the wheels to fall off”
“No matter how hard I try I can’t stop feeling nervous on the first tee”
“Whenever there’s a left to right wind, I know I’m going to mess it up”
Do any of these thoughts sound familiar? It seems that most of us have our own special ones that seem to get in the way of good scoring. Unfortunately these thoughts, as common as they are, tend to be self-fulfilling prophecies. Why? Each negative thought acts like a suggestion to your unconscious mind, to be yielded up at a later time for your conscious mind to put into action! Oops!! Like it or not…
You are an expert at suggestion!!
As the UK sun occasionally sneaks through the April showers, the season is sneaking up on us all. So make sure you get off to a great start!

I love it! When a guy who’s never had a lesson rocks up to the Masters and takes away one of the most coveted prizes in golf, there’s something for us all to learn. Gerry “Bubba” Watson was the one who didn’t read the book on how to play the game – he’s his own man!
